DESCRIPTION:Leadership Priorities for the 2020 election \nThe 2020 mid-term event will focus on what Guernsey’s business community consider to be the top priorities ahead of the Guernsey General Election. \nThe event will reveal the findings of the IoD Survey (links below) and the priorities will be debated.  \nThe IoD wants to make sure that businesses’ needs are part of the conversation as candidates assemble their manifestos\, the electorate considers their options and the next States start the new term.  \nMore details to follows. \nTickets cost £25 per person / £250 for a table of 10\, including a continental breakfast. DESCRIPTION:The IoD’s third Wednesday Webinar will examine the economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and use economic models to discuss how different jurisdictions are responding to the crisis and what the options are for recovery. \nThe International Monetary Fund recently announced the “Great Lockdown” recession will drag global GDP lower by 3% in 2020 and it’s been reported the coronavirus pandemic is set to leave 170 countries with lower GDP per capita by the end of the year. \nIn this webinar\, Martyn Dorey will look at his financial modelling behind the crisis and compare Guernsey’s modelling to other jurisdictions\, looking at who is ahead and who is behind. \nMartyn will also highlight which industries will be most affected over the short and medium-term\, and how working practices are likely to change. \nTurning to explore the different options for a phased reversal of lockdown\, Martyn will examine the key variables that need to be taken into account. \nSchedule \n11.00 am – Introduction from John Clacy \n11.10 am – Martyn Dorey will discuss how different jurisdictions are responding to the Covid-19 pandemic and how to model the economic impact of Covid-19 whilst looking at the options for exit and recovery. \n11.35 am – Q&A \n11.50 am – IoD Vice-Chair Stretch Kontelj will share his insights on the macroeconomic picture\, helping local directors to see beyond our local borders and learn from other countries and companies during the Covid-19 pandemic. \n12.00 pm – Close \nThe webinar is free to attend. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries and consults in a non-delegated function to several investment clients representing over £100bn of Assets Under Advice. He is currently serving as the President for the Chamber of Commerce in Guernsey. Martyn also consults to the States of Guernsey on economic\, fiscal and demographic matters. \nPrior to establishing Dorey Financial Modelling\, Martyn was a senior consultant for over ten years at leading UK institutional investment businesses P-Solve/River & Mercantile\, and was an investment actuary at Bacon & Woodrow\, Aon and the Punter Southall Group\, all in London.
